Oscars Moments We Will Never Forget
With the 88th Academy Awards fast approaching, it only seemed fitting to look back at some of the most memorable moments! From the iconic speeches and wins to weird moments, we rank our Top Oscars Moments!
7. Bjork’s Swan Dress
This is one dress that we have a love/hate relationship with. Icelandic singer Bjork wore this unique dress on the 2001 Oscars red carpet. We love the dress because Bjork took the risk of wearing it and went against the Hollywood norm. We hate the dress because it looks like an overly feathered swan Halloween costume.
Whether you love or hate this dress, this is one Oscar moment for the books!
6. Cuba Gooding Jr. Speech, 1997
We love you too Cuba Gooding Jr.! He gave this memorable speech when he won the Oscar for Supporting Actor for his role as Rod Tidwell in “Jerry Maguire”. This moment makes our list because he doesn’t let the music cut-off his speech! He actually uses the music to make his speech and award win that more triumphant!
5. Julia Roberts Soaks-Up Her Win
From the moment Julia Roberts took the stage to accept her award as Best Actress for “Erin Brockovich”, she knew she would savor this moment. Of course you would! Even though she was America’s Sweetheart, she wasn’t going to play nice with the music conductor.
Also, if you re-watch her speech, she forget to thank the real Erin Brockovich! We forgive you Julia, it happens to the best of us.
4. You Really Like Me!
3. Really John Travolta?
Adele Dazeem or Idina Menzel? Who can tell the difference, right? Apparently everyone except for John Travolta! You think if you were announcing someone you would know their name by heart. Queen Elsa apparently did not “Let It Go” and got her cold revenge at the next Oscars!
2. Halle Berry Makes History!
Not only was her speech a tearjerker, she made Oscar History! At the 74th Academy Awards, Halle became the first African American actress to win the Oscar for Best Actress. She won for her role as Leticia Musgrove in “Monsters Ball.” As she even stated herself, this milestone would open the door for future actresses of color.
1. The Ultimate Selfie
You can’t beat the Ultimate Selfie with host Ellen DeGeneres at the 2014 Academy Awards! So many stars in one Oscar moment! Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Kevin Spacey! Could this photo fit anymore A-listers? Probably!
This photo will definitely last a lifetime!
Well, that wraps up our list! Make sure to tune in this Sunday night to experience new memorable Oscars moments!
