Justin Timberlake Is The King Of Pop
Who would’ve thought that the 11-year-old country music performer, who went by “Justin Randall,” would later be known by all as the Prince of Pop and, dare I say, this generation’s King of Pop?!
Justin Timberlake has proved time and time again that he can cross genres and bring country, R&B and pop fans all together. From “Drink You Away” (watch his duet with Chris Stapleton from the CMAs) to “Cry Me a River,” to his newest single, “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
His rise to fame is an intriguing one to look back on, and he’s only getting bigger and better (yes, it is possible). If his new single is any indication of what his upcoming album will have to offer, then the sky is the limit.
After Justin’s stint as “Justin Randall” in Star Search (you have to look up videos of him – don’t understand how he didn’t win), he was picked up by The All New Mickey Mouse Club. And then, at the age of 14, he joined NSYNC.
Finally, at the age of 21, he broke out as a solo artist with the album, Justified.
What fascinates me most about this transition is that it took him only SIX WEEKS to write and record the entire album! Granted, it takes him longer these days, BUT he does have a family to take into account… and collaborations to organize.
I didn’t realize how exciting it was that Justin was with Pharrell Williams in the studio until I did a little reading. Apparently Pharrell produced the majority of the songs on Justified, bringing us some of our all-time Justin favorites like “Rock Your Body.”
As the executive music producer for the upcoming DreamWorks’ movie, Trolls, Timberlake is putting together a very impressive soundtrack. On that soundtrack will be a number that Justin wrote for Gwen Stefani featuring, you guessed it, himself!
While Justin has said that he doesn’t like to put himself on a timeline for his albums, this movie has forced him to have a deadline (as it is coming out November of this year!). Consequently, he’s already come out with the song of the summer!
Now this final collaboration has me, by far, the most excited: The Weeknd. While he did tour with Justin on his 20/20 Experience Tour, they have yet to collaborate on a song together.
Timberlake said on BBC Radio last week that “Abel (The Weeknd) and I have been talking about doing a collab soon.” The Weeknd has brought in a new wave of R&B that will mix beautifully with Timberlake’s more classic sound.
Justin Timberlake has also been in the studio with Timbaland, his most notorious collaborator and producer. We have only good things to look forward to from the King of Pop.
