Carly Rae Jepsen is a Canadian singer born on November 21, 1986. Carly rose to fame in 2007 when she placed third in Canadian Idol and was part of the Top 3 concert tour. Shortly after, she released her debut album, Tug of War, through Maple Music Recordings in 2008.
Three years later, Carly released a new single, “Call Me Maybe”, which followed the release of an EP titled Curiousity in 2012. The same year, Justin Bieber referred Carly to his manager, Scooter Braun, who later signed her to his Schoolboy Records label. After “Call Me Maybe” gained popularity on YouTube by reaching 400 million views, the single reached the number one spot on US Billboard and Canadian Hot 100.
Carly has received multiple awards and nominations, including three Juno Awards and two Grammy nominations. She was also named by Billboard as 2012’s Rising Star.
Carly has announced that she is currently working on her third album. She also announced in December 2013 that she would take over the role of Cinderella in the new Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, beginning February 2014.
